Our mission is to uplift Indigenous voices who are telling Indigenous stories that bring more authentic, contemporary representation of Indigenous people on screen, to smash tired, harmful Indigenous stereotypes and to work with as many Indigenous creatives as frequently as possible.

Our target market are audiences who are hungry for on screen content that tackles Indigenous issues with a fresh lens in genres such as comedy, romance, suspense, thriller, action, adventure, horror, and dramedy.

Tanis Parenteau (owner) is a producer/actor and member of the Métis Nation of Alberta - District 14 (Peace River). Her production company, TDEP Productions, focuses on decolonizing the entertainment space by uplifting contemporary Indigenous stories by Indigenous writers, smashing harmful Indigenous stereotypes, and creating opportunities for Indigenous creatives and craftspeople. Her debut short film, ‘A Big Black Space’ had its broadcast premiere on ARTÉ in Europe, won Best Canadian Short at Dreamspeakers International Indigenous Film Festival, the Royal Reel Award at the Canada International Film Festival and was nominated for Best Live Action Short at the 12th Red Nation International Film Festival. Her recent short, ‘Dating Indian’, was nominated for an Alberta Film & Television (Rosie) Award for Best Scripted Production Under 30 Minutes and won Best Comedy at Edmonton Short Film Festival.
Tanis produced and stars in the short form series ‘Jason’ which premiered on APTN lumi Feb. 14th, 2024 and was nominated for the Suzette Laqua Best of BC Series at T.O. Web Fest and Best Romcom Series at Minnesota Web Fest. Her projects have been funded by Indigenous Screen Office, Bell Fund, Canada Council for the Arts, Alberta Media Fund, and Alberta Media Arts Alliance. Tanis is a member of Canadian Media Producers Association, Alberta Media Production Industries Association, and Peace Region Independent Media Arts Association. She is an alum of Reelworld Amazon MGM Line Producer Training Lab, Banff Spark Accelerator for Women in the Business of Media, NSI Art of Business Management - Indigenous Edition, ISO/Netflix Indigenous Production Apprenticeship, Whistler Film Festival Producers Lab, The Genre Lab, AMAAS One2One, Netflix-Banff Diversity of Voices, AMPIA Bespoke Mentorship, and Alberta Producer Accelerator. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from The New School for Drama. |
